just take a floor sweep and get the big stuff off the wall, then use primer to bond the remaining dust to the wall forever. Think of it as added mass for improved sound containment. And, it helps...

Laying the dead vent on the decoupled ceiling solves all these issues and you can skip the PVC pipe and just use flex duct inside the dead vent and insulated ductwork on the far side.
