I should have mentioned fiberglass rods/fish sticks. They are invaluable for retrofitting cables, especially with fiberglass insulation.

Pretty easy and cheap to share a DirecTV, Dish, or Comcast/cable DVR, using their own hardware. Tivo might be a nice upgrade, though.

I'd find a local reputable AV company now, and pay them for wiring...
