I did update the settings a bit since the 1.6 firmware, but it didn't make a huge change. I haven't changed them since the 1.6 firmware update.

I wouldn't. There's enough variation between sized you'd be better of setting the basic settings with a disk, like the AVSHD 709, and leaving the rest at their default.
