Implementation is everything. Some of us would rather live with
slightly elevated black levels than the artifacts of zone dimming.
I'd rather wait for OLED or its equivalent to see true black than...

Thanks, Jeret!

You're the first person to post alternative settings in a long time.
I will have to find a time to try them when no one in the household
is trying to watch TV. Maybe the lower...

What did you think of the set live and in person?
Any chance to see cyan colors on display?
If so, do they compare favorably with wide-gamut CCFL?

Dot by dot is best for all HD viewing and for 'enhanced' DVDs.
For Standard Definition, it's not really a good idea to blow the
picture up with a zoom setting, since it lacks detail to begin with....

I'm not making declarative statements, but trying to reverse-engineer
from observations. Have you seen an LED-lit TV that exhibits the

That's a lot of Sonys!
You're fortunate to have gotten the 2013s with the technology.
Most sources say that none of the Sonys of 2014 got it, for some reason.

That doesn't look good -- why is the screen so bright with no signal, first of all?
That looks more like a grayscale that is showing banding of color.
Do you have the Light Sensor turned on?
