At 9.5' you'll really be pushing the envelope as far as minimum distance is concerned for the AE900, and you're going to need to use nearly all of it's zoom to get you to the 80" screen you desire....

EDIT: I should clarify. The 1"x3"s used to attach the soffit to the wall and ceiling are pine. The soffit itself is all MDF.
