I would enlist the help of the acoustic...

I would enlist the help of the acoustic professionals, most have free room analysis and will then provide product and placement recommendations...I would try GIK and Realtraps

sounds like that sub is self powered with its own...

sounds like that sub is self powered with its own onboard amplifier, to make a long answer short... the two do not need to match.

same here, I started putting the cap on and off...

same here, I started putting the cap on and off in between use but I always had to readjust the focus and/or shift because its not that easy to slip on and off...a soft cover would be nice

Craig is correct, my HW40 is mounted very near the top of the screen and it works...great.

I have 8.5 ceiling and I use a peerless mount with a 6" extension, puts the lens about 4" in the screen...
