So, for me, the Shield is a great way to get everything in one box. If you only play back movies through Kodi (SPMC) and that's it, then there's no real benefit.

I use BlueIris and Hikvision cameras. Foscam cameras are terrible.

I have found that 6 frames per second is plenty to get what you need. There is no need record at 30 or 60 fps.
