Mine is 16' x 9' billboard vinyl on an EMT frame. The vinyl was free (from a local advertizer, gave me 2 40' x 14' signs) so the total cost was ~ $40. Not huge, but works pretty well for 30-40 people.

I'm with AV. Spend the $50 more for the Optoma. Better resolution, better contrast and actually a HT PJ. And, if at all possible, ceiling mounting is the way to go.

With that many hours going on the PJ, you might consider one of the LED PJs like the LG PF-1500. Not as bright as the Epsons or Sony, but at your screen size it should be plenty. Would save a few...

I agree that the increase in PQ should be obvious. The additional resolution and brightness aside, the increase in contrast should be significant. I was able to A/B the 705HD with the 725HD and there...

Actually to get a 16:9 140” image (122” x 69”) you’ll need from 13’4” to 16’ of throw. (I believe MM was using a 16:10 ratio). You should be good at 14’.

The short answer, No.
You would have to open up the speaker array and wire in external speakers which would void the warranty. Also the speakers in the array are likely matched to the minimum...

I’m thinking no. Most HT receivers won’t send sub frequencies to the other speakers. Unless you have a direct in to the power amp section and can bypass the preamp, you won’t get the low end. Also,...

I’ve heard good things about the Optoma H180x (about $450) as long as he’s not susceptible to rainbows. There’s also the Optoma DW326e (about$410) that looks like a WXGA version of the 180x.
