As far as thin, wall mount speakers go the KEF T305 are standard for that price point. But, you will get much more speaker (and better sound) for your money if you can go with standard bookshelf...

For a while used Cambridge Audio S30's as surrounds and they were excellent.
Now have Q100's all the way around ......

Anyone have recommendations for shops in So Cal (LA or OC preferred) that repair older/vintage amps, receivers, etc?

Set the crossover for the KEF eggs at 100hz and you'll likely notice a better sound. (Most avr's will let you set the surround crossover separately from the center and mains.)

And as someone else alluded to ... If it makes sense in your room/space you can use the left over Q100 as a back speaker in a 6.1 setup.

All three are solid, often recommended choices in this price...
