I'm a pro photographer and former cinematographer and I find them nearly identical. Video is simply a bunch of photographic images played in quick succession.

You weren't seeing HDR. The difference is very noticeable. Much more noticeable than HD > 4K and probably about the same as SD > HD.

S550 > YpBpR > Box1040 > RGBHV > D50

vs

S550 > HDMI > HDFury > Box1040 > RGBHV > D50

D50 is limited to 1080i.
