Er .. no. If you turn off the main zone, you also disconnect the signal to the pre-outs as well. So you likely want to just lower the main zone volume, but raise the gain on the headphone amp.

Using ALL ZONE STEREO (which is now the 3rd time I've had to say this) all 2013 and 2014 Zone 2 models can pass the same HDMI audio playing in the main zone to Zone 2 as well.

Yes, all these models can use ALL ZONE STEREO, and the X3000 and X4000 can pass an independent HDMI source to Zone 2 as well. This is referring to using the Zone 2 speaker posts or Zone 2 pre-outs.

Although it should be able to pass 720p 3D (eg. PS3 games; TV), it cannot pass full 1080p 3D which only the HDMI 1.4 AVRs (XX11/X91 and newer) can do.

And as I indicated 12/14 gauge would have been more appropriate as 16 gauge wire will require far more power from the AVR to reach 60'.

No way to load update other than via network for USA models. Try setting the IGMP proxy setting on the router to OFF, otherwise try a different router.

Generally the only reason to connect HDMI(Video) --> TV and optical (audio) --> AVR is if there is an HDMI handshake issue (eg. audio/video issues).
