Hi Boe, I know you saw my posting in the AVP thread, but I'll reiterate some of it here.

The 8802A is sonically in the ballpark of the AVP. With the inclusion of Audyssey XT32, and running a Pro...

Hi everyone, just a quick update and to chime in on the discussion about AVP replacements.

The new Elac looks nice on paper.

Compared to the 7050 (I have one):

Amps: Elac's BASH vs the much superior DDFA of the 7050, which can drive complex speaker loads very well. Basically PowerDAC...

I use composite Video, as the Marantz does not have S-Video. But one of the nice things about the CLD-97 is its excellent (for the era) video quality.

Now, taking analog video and running it onto...

So before running my Audyssey pro cal, one of the things they recommend is to have the AVP firmware up to date. Upon boot today, it offered to update the firmware and I said go.
It pulled several...

Hi Everyone, proud owner of an AV8802 now!

Thanks, and I appreciate the tip. Will give DSU a shot. I was a big fan of Merdian's Trifield DSP setting, and I understand DSU incorporates much of the learning that went into those older upmixers.

At this time, it seems the MQA licencees are only allowed to do the final 2 steps (decode / render) together. This makes sense, as probably the biggest benefit (in the temporal domain) comes from the...

I'll start by stating I am a huuuge fan of MQA, whose development I've been closely following since the earliest tidbits of news floated out years ago.

Since the full-on benefit of MQA is...

If wanting to use it for DLNA playback, be aware that the 7050 has a nasty bug that can be worked around. It claims to support Gapless playback, but that is broken for PCM streams.

I'm also toying with the idea of those miniDSPs for DRC.

I run an HTPC with JRiver MC, so I might pony up for DIRAC software and see how it works doing the DRC pre-AVP (of course, I'd put the AVP...
