Why do you say it's thrown away? It's not thrown away by a 10-bit processor (Iscan). Most products have 10-bit video processing. The difference between 400 and 401 (10-b) is 25% of the difference...

Ted covered most of your question, but here's a bit more information.

The AccuPel DVG-5000 does indeed output either YCbCr 4:2:2 8-bit or 10-bit, whichever you select in its Output/422 Bits menu...

The AccuPel Ultra uses very simple English-like commands over the USB interface to control all functions, so there is no SDK required. You can check out the older DVG-5000 manual with USB commands on...

Conversion from 4:2:0 to 4:4:4 requires vertical upsampling and horizontal upsampling. That is usually done in two steps, from 4:2:0 to 4:2:2 (vertical upsampling) and then 4:2:2 to 4:4:4 (horizontal...

Generally yes. Sending 4:4:4 12-bit is needlessly increasing the HDMI clock rate another 25% (for a total of 50%) above the 4:2:2 clock rate because the actual data is only 10-bits. i.e. with 12-bits...

They have banding receiving 10-bit YCbCr 4:4:4 but not 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2? That's an odd problem. But like I said, even if all else were equal, YCbCr 4:2:2 is a good choice anyway.

If you are watching movies which are 24p than you can turn off Deep Color on the player. That tells it to send YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit signals which are at a 20% lower clock rate than YCbCr 4:4:4 10-bit...

Not exactly. Deep Color refers to HDMI transmission of RGB, YCbCr 4:4:4, and YCbCr 4:2:0 formats with more than 8-bits per component. YCbCr 4:2:2 10-bit and YCbCr 4:2:2 12-bit are not Deep Color...
