I hope you don't have 20a outlets directly on a 50a breaker? I assume your sequencer has a 50a main and then 15a or 20a sub breakers or fuses on each switched output? Otherwise that's really...

Don't worry about that. There are coax to optical converters for both directions available for less than $20. Check Amazon.

And no they don't cause any signal degradation to spite with the...

Are these active speakers? Meaning do they have an amplifier inside?

Because a passive speaker wire picking up AC interference is very unlikely.

Now it is possible the speaker wire is...

Since this is 60 year old tape I would play it and capture it. Don't Fast Fwd or Rewind until the reel is captured. The idea is to get the material onto disk ASAP and not degrade the fragile tape any...

Huh? If an amplifier is generating 90 volts, that's 1012 watts into 8 ohms! ((90^2) / 8). I sincerely doubt any home theater amplifier is generating that even if he has an amp that is capable.

This effect however will not be at all significant with speaker wires. Passive speakers have no electrical gain and the source impedance of the power amp is in the fractions of ohms. So in a typical...

Another poster, Bill, claimed 50wrms will kill a tweeter.

You posted a spec sheet from Morel that says it will handle 200w and take peaks of 1kw.

I am showing based on both personal experience...

Read the Elliot article. There is no way that tweeter can take 200watts for more than a few milliseconds.

or just do the simple ohm's law. Can that 40-50 awg or so wire take 40 volts at 5...

That is my active crossover ratio amp power more or less. 120w bass (12in), 60w mid(6in), 20w high (soft dome 1.5in) per channel of an LCR setup.

Except that I have 350w on each stereo 18in sub as...

I now have...

And that's the theory behind over biased class AB amps sold as class A. They are much more efficient and have the advantage of simply going to class AB operation when pushed. But this approach still...

But I...

That is not a level playing field. A practical class A amplifier or a class AB biased into hard class A cannot compete power wise with a class AB or B amp. Unless you have one of those $50,000 per...

The difference in THD between 0.01 and 0.001 is probably inaudible. But at what point was that measured? Full power? Crossover distortion occurs at low power levels and can be quite audible. Early...
