The 3311CI was released in 2010 and cannot expand beyond 7CH. In fact the first successor model to the 3311CI that can expand is the 2014 X4100W.

Ah .. misunderstood. Agreed, it should pass if PCM 2.0, but apparently does not when INPUT SELECT is used. Either your work around or connecting an analog cable as I suggested are your best options.
