If you turn of HDMI CEC you probably wont have that problem. None of my 3 Denon receivers do. Also don't use ARC, use optical instead.

No, there should be an audio setting on your TV for PCM/Stereo and Dolby Digital. I don't own any LG TV's so I cannot tell you exactly what the menus say.
