It recently occurred to me that they might have set the limit to 10 bits for color because the HDMI spec., i.e. the bandwidth limitation, can't send 12 bit color at 4:4:4, which is how everyone would...

I think at some point they will redo the digital effects in 4K and re-transfer the original film elements in 4K (or maybe even 8K), but I don't expect that anytime in the next 5 years at least. ...

I find this hard to believe. 0.001 fL. for sure, but 0.0001 fL. is really, really dark.

Wow, that's surprising to me. I would think anything less than 0.0005 fL. would not be distinguishable with content on the screen. I guess for a blackened room, less than 0.0001 fL. is needed.

Not more than $500 without the stand and remote (I assume you don't need the stand). What happened to the stand, BTW? It got thrown out? Also, check the hours on the set and check for any image...

No. I suspect it will be priced fairly low. I'm thinking the first players will be less than $500 and there may even be some offerings for a lot less. It's not really a new format like Blu-ray and...

Yes, I'm thinking there may even be a way to encode the color data in a way where the players can 'discard' the last 2 bits and send only 10bit color for displays and devices that can only handle 10...

Yikes. Scary seeing so many having this same issue. Are these for the 60" set or the 51"? I bought the 51" late last year as back up, but haven't opened the box yet.

I surmise LG is thinking that eventually OLED will be cheaper to make than LCD (as the raw materials themselves are cheaper) and offers significantly better picture quality. At such a price point,...
