I prefer DLP for the more natural picture, LCD motion blur and cartoon look just doesn't work for my eyes.

It is possible your DVD player cannot play DVD +R discs though.

I personally prefer to use the software and make an AVCHD disc and play it in a bluray...

Well ordering the $299 lifetime deal from Amazon was a bust. Unit came in today, powered it up and that was as good as it got.
Not possible to activate with lifetime, unit not listed as lifetime...

Ok, if you can take a couple of detailed pics. Even a few of the light engine assembly with the lamp removed - you don't have to pull it out unless you need to to get a pic of the fan.

IMO the toshiba picture is better than the Mitsubishi - at least mine was and both were new sets.
The Mitsubishi has other pluses - easier to work on, more parts avail, very few if any ballast...

It was probably just the lamp and not any other problem, esp. if you did it with a hot bulb.

I honestly don't know on the cheap lamps, as I only will buy philips or osram.

It won't do anything without a lamp, you can check the trouble codes by the flashing LED's to see if all it says is the lamp code.
