Made some quick recordings of 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 in WMC:

5.1 (showing an SD infomercial) averages well below 10 MB/sec, with peaks of around 13. Drops as low as 5-6. But since they are not showing...

5.2/Cozi (when it was still 480i) had a profile similar to 55.4, variable rate with average around 2.5 MB/sec, lows of under 2 and peaks of almost 5. Don't have any recordings handy since they went...

Maybe they are looking to make a few bucks selling these licenses in the spectrum auction?

Doubt that there will be any room for these type of stations anyway once the band gets shrunk (except on...

Yes, they went straight from the local ID to the local commercial block, clipping HH's opening credits and the first minute maybe of the show. This was before the network promo.

However, no...

Speaking of Windows Media Center, when are they ever going to add guide data for 55.4? Really liking this channel, hope it survives the spectrum grab.

Tivo and TitanTV have had the data for weeks...

Now if they could only fix their local commercial timing problems.

They clobbered the first minute or two of Hogan's Heroes, inserting a local ad break right after the ID at 10 PM.

First time...

Cool.

I guess that means WBNX isn't in the auction, as they would not be adding additional subs at this late date.

Nothing different on WOIO here, still one of the strongest signals on the outdoor antenna, and the same on the rabbit-ear antennas on basement and garage TVs

Do you have a lot of ash trees around...

Yeah, these bugs get more obnoxious all the time. At least they aren't doing pop-ups in the middle of a show like GRIT does.

I think the FOX 8 one is also more opaque (in addition to the extra...

Nobody knows where the cutoff will be now, could be in the high 30's or even 40's if only stations that nobody watches sell out, or could be in the 20's if the big companies all get in and all do...

Except that they can't get the aspect ratio correct on GRIT.

Haven't noticed any PQ issues with 19.2 here except for the glitch when they switch from local commercials to the network feed.

What happens to the WOIO Akron repeater in all of this? Is it protected in the repack, or will it likely be eliminated (assuming they don't opt to sell it)?

If so, another reason to keep 28 and...

Yeah, seems like MeTV is the only subchannel net that has mostly "real" commercials, not just cancer centers/medical supplies/lawyers/PSA's(like 3.3)/etc.

What about a channel-sharing arrangement with another station? Certainly that crummy picture they transmit would not take up more than a couple MB/sec. That way, they could sell both 16 and 29 and...

Correct, it doesn't matter that they are below 31 (or wherever the new cutoff ends up), as some other station above 31 can move to their frequency.

Since they just broadcast a single SD stream,...

All the Cleveland and Akron signals are normal strength here.

Once I had a similar problem on one TV, it turned out to be a bad/loose coax connector. It seemed to affect UHF much more than VHF.
