You'd be better off building a little "server". You could even just build a good HTPC and make it your Plex server, but have it local at your main TV. It's up to you, we have lots of options nowadays.

I have Plex on a W7 VM. Seems fine to me, no need for more horsepower.

I also have an instance of WSE2012, but I use that for other stuff. I like having the separation between VMs.

I did the WMC/360 thing for a while, and back in the day it was great, but today there are better options. I went the W7/WMC recorder and NVidia Shield for live tv and playback of recorded TV route.
