Yes. It's a sticker to protect the plexiglass top, which is easily scratched. In fact, be sure to wipe (dust) the top using a microfiber cloth or you can get light swirl marks in the finish.

Yeah. If you don't need RCA inputs, that's a good way to go. The XDA-2 comes with a remote, which you aren't going to get with an analog pre-amp unless it has one of those motorized volume dials.
