Unfortunately it's not likely there are any replacement panels available for the 54Z1 - that model was extremely limited back in 2009 so i'd be very surprised if your guy can come up with a new panel...

But you have a good point, the Darbee won't work if using the TV's OTA tuner.

I don't think there will be any LCD TVs announced at CES that can trump a good Plasma. I'd be mor inclined to buy a Plasma now before they're all gone, rather than wait for an LCD that probably will...
