I like the Outlaw 7125 in terms of performance vs cost and the fact it's light enough to move...

I don't put much weight on power output specs. I would not expect more of a 6 dB SPL difference from the cheapest to most expensive receiver. If you want a lot of SPL, or are using 4 ohm speakers,...

With some exception current AVRs use very similar designs from what I can tell. A differential input stage, a driver stage ( voltage amplifier,) and a push-pull output stage ( in which one set of...

Some use multiple amps with active crossovers. If you had some way to power them from a single receiver channel, you could not expect the same results,...

My best guess, and I emphasize guess, is that Yamaha "may" have better heat sinking on the L/R channels I have seen quite a few of their schematics, and the channel amps seem to be the same even...

Very dependent on your SPL requirements. I find -10 dB SPL is plenty loud, and I suspect the 1300 is up to the task

Even the lowest level Yamaha receiver can put out a lot of SPL because it...

Did you run a frequency sweep, with one channel active at a time? That would help you be sure if you have not. If you had a separate pre out, and could borrow an amp from a friend or buy some...

Yes, thankfully math almost never changes ( there's the rare error in a proof) and physics, usually based on rigorous proof rarely changes - Newton's laws are still accurate, when not near the speed...

Never had issues, but some people will push their systems hard

Just remember, you can dramatically lower power needs with a small reduction in volume

I always figured, a small amount of distortion may not be noticeable, but reference level sounds might require quite a bit of power. But consider you can drop volume setting by 3 dB, a small drop in...

I never noticed a significant difference when adding a power amp to my setup. Outlaw 7125 does 190 watts into 4 ohms at a good price, around $1000. It's occasional sale price is a real steal, IMO....

I admit I was not sure how Klipsch and Polk manage their high sensitivity numbers. Of course, you are right, they could measure it a lot of ways. As I am not a speaker...

The main thing, IMO, to know about power is the law of diminishing returns. If 100 watts of power gives you 90 dB SPL ( sound pressure) then 200 gives you 93 dB, a small gain in SPL for a doubling...
