Murphy,

I'm very aware of how different production styles have different effects on the sound in different playback scenarios. "Thrusted" parallel compression on acoustic guitar sounds great in a...

Hi Ethan. I have been familiar with RealTraps for many years and I certainly agree that acoustics are a huge piece of the pie, as well as the (almost always fixed) dispersion pattern of the...

The First Five Minutes

When I first hear a system, whether it be a speaker or headphone system, it almost always sounds "wrong" to me. Then within 5 minutes I'm used to it. But... what I've noticed is how it feels once I'm...

Oh, it hasn't ever really worked. Haha. :p I've never been able to "floor it." My original plan was to do a dual build but I only partially finished one and I've been gridlocked for quite a while and...

Yeah I was thinking like have bolts on top that I can tighten and it clamps the sub together. Also seems good for structural integrity, kinda like with concrete...

You know, this gives me a related idea. What if I drilled a couple of holes in each cap, ran some cables through on the inside, attached them to permanent washers/screws on one end, and then on the...

I've moved this sub several times. In 3 locations I had to take the door off the hinges AND remove the caps to get it through. My current location has nice doors so I only have to take the caps off.

Hmm. The tools I had when I built it are long gone. I'm wondering what I'd have to do to re-trim (and re-paint) the caps. I don't want to have to take the driver out or anything :serious:

Fastening Sonotube to MDF Cap

I built a sub with a 32" tube thinking I wouldn't have any problem getting it through doors (30" would have been the best choice :D). I suppose if I shaved the caps down flush with the tube on the...

Advanced, dynamic subwoofer/bass calibration

So I have a sort of makeshift solution (and have had for years) where I use a BFD. I usually leave it set the same for all listening levels, so it ends up being bass light at low levels and bass...

I'm asking about what limits the peak voltage a speaker can handle.

Crossover - exceeding the voltage ratings of the components will destroy them.
Connectors - same as above.
Wires - similar to...

Okay, I see. The input drives an opamp and the the clip detection circuit runs from this (gain knobs change the gain of this stage). I'll assume 10v and not worry about measuring. With a 10v input,...

I'm not too sure about my low-freq limits. At super low freqs like 9hz, I feel a pressure on my head and the pressure variations modulate the ambient noise. The frequency at which my sensitivity to...
