Bose are great speakers, if you dislike any coherent semblance of a soundstage, and yes that goes for old Bose speakers too.

The VTF15h mk2 is looking like an amazing sub for the price. If you can afford a duo of those, that will make for a great system. Remember that shipping isn't included in that price, and that two of...

Looks to me that would be a lateral move for the most part. I would aim a bit higher, maybe KEF LS50s or Ascend Sierra 2s. Get something you will never feel the need to upgrade from.

If you double the distance from a sound emission, you lose 6 dB ie. half the amplitude, so to go from 1 m to 2 m, subtract 6 dB. For these CEA tests, they typically change from 1 m PEAK tests to 2 m...

Fry's is not a great place to evaluate these speakers. Another thing, placement will affect the bass response as much as anything. Sounds to me like the corner loaded speakers got too much of a bass...

The only way to see what Audyssey is really doing is to measure the before and after Audyssey changes. You will need an SPL meter for this.

You would need a SPL meter to do the measuring. There is some pretty inexpensive SPL meters so it doesn't have to cost a fortune. The best way to do it is to use a SPL meter in conjunction with Room...

An idea for a system I had awhile back was a whole bunch of Dayton Reference HF 15"s on some iNuke 3000s. The nice thing about the Dayton Ref HFs is that with the right cabinet they are very linear...

+1 this. Audyssey can create some strange settings occasionally. If the sub 20 Hz content is jacked up by 10 dB, that will overdrive your sub real fast on any deep bass scene.

This is strange. The Hsu reference CD has a 16 Hz test tone on it, and if anything can produce chuffing, that could. I would love to see a spectral analysis of the reference disc you are using. I...

The VTF2 would be a great sub, however I would not want to try to use a STF1 with it. The VTF2 is just too powerful and the STF1 would not be able to contribute much. I would only use it if it can...

+1, playing electronic music loudly on those speakers may be more than they can handle. The JBL Studio 590 should be good, as well as Klipsch Reference speakers.

I think you are right in that you would have gained more upper bass output were that test done with woofer facing the mic, however you would also have lost low end output with port facing away from...

The Cap would beat them in output, no doubt. The VTF3s would give you a smoother response. The Cap just has a whole lot more displacement. Not exactly a fair comparison though. Three VTF3 mk5s might...

First of all, the Reaction driver's inductance does not look nearly as severe as the old Power X driver was, but yes, if you averaged its output, its CEA averages do look like they would benefit from...

Electronic dance music screams for a subwoofer (or two). I would get bookshelf speakers and some subs. Hell, just use the subs as stands for the bookshelf speakers, that is all floorstanding speakers...

At 50 hz in burst CEA testing, the PS15x has a 3.2 dB advantage over the XS15se, that is over 50% more output. In PSA parlance, it would take 1.5 XS15se's to equal a PS15x. In long term output at 50...

The THD measurements look to be driver related distortion, because it scales up evenly with the sweep levels. And certainly the PSA driver can get louder, but it doesn't matter because it would all...

It won't affect the performance. However, you may want to lay it on a blanket or something so as not to scuff the finish.
