As a longtime XT32 user I can say that I would not go back. Dirac is a magnitude better.

It isn’t in the least complicated. All you have to do is connect the 88A between the preouts on your AVR...

:) I think it was someone else though. Other than maybe seeing the name somewhere, Dirac Live had never impinged on my conscious mind until the 88A came out. BICBW ;)

I don't recall it. And I had never even heard of Dirac Live until the 88A really, so it was probably someone else. I've not had much regard for Audyssey Pro for some time, having come to the...

Yep. And judging by the The Dark Knight and its sequel he barely likes good sound anyway. He seems to believe LOUD is what matters.

If it works for one point there's no reason to believe it won't work for any others, so one point is enough. The graphs posted show that there is all but no difference between the Dirac calculated...

OK - that sounds like you have thought it all through carefully anyway. I am sure it will all be good - just that the XLRs add an additional layer of complexity IMO, but nothing that can't be worked...

No way to know if the version of Dirac in the XMC-1 is identical to that used by owners of the 88A, or if Emotiva have futzed with it in some way. No way to load the 88A calibration into the XMC-1...

Most importantly of all, I don't care. If an additional ADA conversion was audible, it would be dwarfed by the benefits of world-class room correction anyway. It's a discussion about nothing IMO.

Yes. But if you don't have a hum to begin with you won't reduce it... do you have a ground loop or hum in your system?

ADA steps are transparent per se. markus has even posted some evidence that they are.

If people want to believe an additional ADA step does matter, or to take no view on it at all, that is fine....

Yeah - my subs (Submersive) only have XLR input but I use the XLR-RCA converter that they supply with the sub. (No XLRs on my Denon 5200). When I had the Onkyo processor that had XLR so I used it for...

Might as well use just one point, single measurement, which has already been done.

Absolutely. And I'd add 'ease of use' too.

True enough - but there are also wires to construct and the permutations of dip switches and so on seem more complicated, with additional complications for gain matching. And if one has a mixture of...

I have found that using unbalanced cables throughout has made life much simpler, with no downside (given that my cable runs are short and tidy). With the 88A, using balanced adds to the complexity...

Yes - he had a HTPC in the system. Something in it had apparently failed or gone wrong in some way and was the cause of the noise. Removing the HTPC temporarily has solved the issue. He is currently...

Scott, I think you need to develop more understanding of how this all works. To calibrate properly one needs to use all 9 mic positions sequentially so that Dirac can build a picture of the room,...

What makes that UPS suitable for power amps? I know nothing about UPS - this one has a VA of 700 and Watts of 400. Is that enough for 4 power amps - the 300 watt (into 4ohms) XPA-3, the 150 watt (8...
