If it is shipped on a pallet, shipping forces shouldn't be that much of a factor. I think the Ultra is built to be totally inert. There is no payoff in output, but it feels more like a solid piece of...

Lol, at 55 lbs, there are a lot of 15" drivers that weigh less than the Ultra driver, and a lot of 18"s as well. The Ultra driver is one hefty chunk of iron and steel. As for the ports, like Steve...

Brian if you intend to get dual subs, you could always use them as bookshelf speaker stands, They are hard to knock over, even for a toddler. Acoustically it may not be the best place though. I have...

No, I would guess the Reaction woofers are a good deal more powerful. We will have to wait for measurements to confirm though.

The Dayton is 950 watts into 4 ohms. I believe that is RMS, not peak. That amp is overkill for that driver. It'll work, but if you crank it to hard it will beat the motor to death or melt the voice...

Reaction looks to have a beast with their PV15x as well. I wouldn't be surprised if that had near PB13 Ultra levels of performance.

That is a very good deal for that driver. I think the amp might be a bit overkill for it though. I would go with a 500 watt amp. Plus the 1000 watt Dayton is a pretty big plate amp for a 10" sub. For...

Whatever the case, I doubt SVS is just sitting on their hands coasting on their reputation. I don't think they will be pursuing the higher end for reason I stated above, the logistics of a massive...

I don't see SVS releasing something larger than a PB13 Ultra. There is a reason why huge subs are a niche market. I don't think SVS could move many more of those units than JTR already does. The PB13...

Sadly the passive versions of the Truth monitors have been discontinued. Those were some terrific monitors for the dollar. It's hard to recommend the active versions in the face of the Mackie and JBL...

Hsu is pretty flexible, I am sure they can offer a package with the HC-1 swapped out with a HB-1. If timbre matching is your concern, I can tell you that the HB and HC speakers sound a lot alike. I...

At around $3k, I would go for a Funk 18.0. A JTR Cap S1 is something like 2.5k. SVS would have to price it well under $3k to peak my interest. Hell, you can get a Hsu ULS-15 for just a tad over 1k....

Is the SVS subs available at BestBuy priced differently? I didn't hear about that. Anyway if SVS wants to grow, they will need to move beyond the enthusiasts market as they have done.

A good middle ground would be the Hsu VTF2 mk4 (http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-2mk4.html) or the Rythmik LV12r (http://www.rythmikaudio.com/LV12R.html). For a bit more you can get a Hsu VTF3...

The VTF3 mk5 will definitely outperform the Dayton kits- it has a lot more displacement. A Ultimax 18 in martysub or stonehenge flatpack would certainly outperform the VTF3 but the knockdown boxes...

A gloss black FV15HP looks pretty flagshippy to me. Although when you factor in shipping, it isn't that much less expensive than a PB13 Ultra, but it is a few hundred less. And its performance...

I didn't forget about PSA, I just don't consider their subs to have that much of a performance advantage over SVS subs, though you do get more SPL for your dollar. Then there is PSA's ethical...

The PB13 Ultra isn't a bad value compared to dealer brands, but compared to other manufacture direct sub makers, Reaction, Hsu, Rythmik, JTR, etc, it is certainly not the best bang for your buck sub...

The Submersive will be the most powerful. However I might still go with the F25 as the amplifier technology will likely make for a greater qualitative change than what you have now. The XS30 is...
