Could just be dust in the light path - from lamp on out. I had one where I had to clean the color wheel and lens at the color wheel - was bought from a smokers house.

It is possible your DVD player cannot play DVD +R discs though.

I personally prefer to use the software and make an AVCHD disc and play it in a bluray...

Not possible to activate with lifetime, unit not listed as lifetime...

Ok, if you can take a couple of detailed pics. Even a few of the light engine assembly with the lamp removed - you don't have to pull it out unless you need to to get a pic of the fan.

IMO the toshiba picture is better than the Mitsubishi - at least mine was and both were new sets.
The Mitsubishi has other pluses - easier to work on, more parts avail, very few if any ballast...

I can't tell by the pic if it is anything else.

More than likely, your lens on the projector is coated in dust - if your model has the side ports, remove one and look in while the tv is on - you will see the dust. (Most common area)

It was probably just the lamp and not any other problem, esp. if you did it with a hot bulb.

I honestly don't know on the cheap lamps, as I only will buy philips or osram.

It won't do anything without a lamp, you can check the trouble codes by the flashing LED's to see if all it says is the lamp code.
