I'm using the MX-5000 and IP control. That way I avoid all the RF to base to IR stuff and wirng is cleaner. Of course anything that doesn't have a ethernet port or wifi is a problem.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the MSC-400 can only be controlled from a URC remote via their RF. I know the USB port is only for passing programming and you cannot control the MSC-400 via USB.
