I think two PS15x subs would do well at 40 hz and above, but below that they would struggle. I would not even consider the S-15s. I would go with a pair of PV15xs, or Hsu VTF3 mk5s at the very least....

Measurements are on Hsu's website. The E15HP and VTF3 mk5 are different types of subs. The E15HP will not be able to match the VTF3s deep bass output. Sealed designs give up a lot of deep bass for...

I understand the graph, but aside from the upper bass null there isn't anything to complain about from what is shown. The lower bass peak probably sound pretty good in action movies. Anyway the upper...

That system will be badly bass shy. You will definitely want better subs with a speaker system like that. But maybe it will sound fine as long as you never turn the volume up.

If the magnetic force is the same, I don't see how there would be a difference in performance. I am not a speaker engineer though, so I would be interested to know if my guess is wrong about that,...

Where was the mic with respect to the sub? If that was taken at listening position, you are getting an excellent response with either sub.

The chief advantages of multiple subs are qualitative as opposed to quantitative. By that I mean the system would sound better, not just louder. One sub can rarely achieve a neutral response in a...

The thing about bass under 20 hz is you need a lot of it for it to be perceived at all, because human hearing is not very sensitive to it. It mostly just shakes things in your room and generally...

You are right about the pricing for the Reaction speakers, somehow I messed up on that math. However I would gladly give up the surrounds for a multiple sub system. One sub is not going to cut it in...

Multiple subs are so advantageous that I would recommend you go with duals right off the bat. A single sub system won't necessarily sound bad, but it isn't likely to produce a flat frequency response...

That would have to be one hell of a discount, because three CX-10s and four CX-8s eats up his entire $5k budget with no room left for subs. I think you would agree he would want at least two high...

What I think would be even better and right on the nose for his budget: dual Reaction PS15x subs (http://reaction-audio.myshopify.com/collections/subwoofers/products/ps-15x-1000w-sealed-subwoofer)....

It isn't that the sub likes to be run hot, it is just that linear, clean bass will sound quieter than the kind of bass generated by the PW505. Lesser performing subs tend to generate a lot of...

+1 this, that would be best however that is $200 over his budget with shipping. From his list, if he can get a Submersive in good shape within his budget, that is how I would lean. If not, get the...

+1 this. Your subwoofer is shaking the air, and that vibrating air is shaking loose things. Less air vibration = less bass.

The CX-10 actually has two drivers. The tweeter is mounted behind the center of the woofer. This is what is known as a coaxial design, and it has some real benefits. Don't judge these speakers by the...

Looks nice. These are meant for near-field use, so you can't really fault them for not hitting extreme SPLs cleanly at 12'. For the price, terrific. I managed to snag my pair at a particularly good...

I take it you are not doing an AT screen? One setup I would consider in that budget is a Reaction CX-10 (http://reaction-audio.myshopify.com/products/cx-10) front stage. They are using quite high...

The Rythmik looks to have an advantage at 20 hz and below. I would say, if money is kind of tight, go for the VTF15h. If the extra few hundred don't matter that much, go with the Rythmik. On the...

GTO that sounds like something you could do, but you have to be aware that the mk2 would not have as much dynamic range as a VTF15h mk1 stack, so the mk1 stack would be a bit bottle-necked in...

The cabinet is mostly the same except the driver cutout is a bit larger on the mk2, and the mk 2 is 1" shorter in depth. A router should do the job in widening the driver cutout, however it may be...
