PioManiac So it sounds like Yamaha made a typo in their support response, which I guess is logical given the bit rate of 4K/24 4:2:2 12-bit. Still I would not want a setup that cannot do >8-bit...

Yeah, it's interesting though that the E6 and K8500 did not use 4:2:2 12-bit, which the Chromecast Ultra uses to the E6 in Mode 1. Maybe it's a K8500 thing, but might affect other sources too?

Actually, as you see they say 4:2:0 12-bit which is not a valid format. Maybe it's a typo from them, but they never confirmed and the K8500 and E6 could not agree it.

Yes, as i said there seems to be an error in their email, which they never explained.

But, with the K8500 to an LG E6 the consequence was "HDR" engaged (due to metadata), but not BT.2020. But...

That is interesting. If you are 100% sure then I guess anything is possible with technology!

However, for sure with the LG E6 OLED, the TV does not display or switch to BT.2020 in Mode 2, verified...

On a PC you do this by changing the "Speakers" setting. You would tell it you only have 2 speakers. Some clever media apps also let you specify how you want different sources processed, e.g. 2 -> 2...

This sounds like a problem with your cable or connection. It could also happen if you have put a new device in the "chain" e.g. adding or changing your AVR.

One other possibility is if you have...

Has anyone else noticed that the YouTube app on the Chromecast Ultra shows "HDR" but not "BT.2020" on the LG info panel, when watching HDR content. Netflix shows both.

Looks like a bug in the...

No, but you do to get the full experience. Contrary to what the manual says, Mode 2 removes all video modes >9Gbps, so all 4K modes >8-bit depth are removed. You won't get BT.2020 Color space, which...

I may have been lucky, but my limited experience with 3D on the E6 has been flawless - provided vertical positioning is right.

I can't speak for your Samsung, but my LG E6 reports "HDR" if HDR metadata is present. It doesn't necessarily mean it is working!

Specifically my Yamaha A3060 ships by default in a "4K Mode" that...

I follow multiple forums and other sources on this TV and hadn't picked up a problem with the B6 and Ultra. I may have missed it, but I'd be surprised. Works great with my E6 anyway.

Yup, Youtube not updated yet, but it works over HDMI with a Chromecast Ultra.

Amazon and Netflix both do HDR. Amazon HDR10, Netflix Dolby Vision.

4K/60 uses exactly the same data rate as 4K/50 (just more filler in /50), so you should be good :)

Yep. A switch makes no difference.

Also check for "BT.2020". The "HDR" pop-up is displayed if the TV detects HDR metadata. But for HDR to work properly it also needs BT.2020, so 10-bit/12-bit...

The top left does not show HDR/DV for internal apps but WILL for HDMI. So do look out for it with PS4 and other external sources. Checking the Picture Modes is another way to be sure.

Jon,

All Netflix shows will use Dolby Vision when using the built in app. As others have said it is all alternate, arguably even better, form of HDR.

The good news if it is the Celerity "cable" is it is highly unlikely to actually be "the cable". It's almost certainly going to be one of the adaptors on the end that has failed. Things do...

You absolutely should see it, if you have HDMI Deep Color enabled for the HDMI port you are using. Have you tried with any alternate sources? E.g. a different UHD Blu-ray player or Chromecast Ultra?

I don't personally have a Roku but I did read elsewhere Firmware version 7.5 stops it always using 4K/60 4:2:2 12-bit for the main menu, instead it can use 4:2:0. So refresh rate may still be 60Hz...
