I run six subs, four of which are 18's. Can do reference level down to single digits. One is an REXXX and I have never had a problem with any of my projectors, lens shift moving.

What projector was it used with in the past? As a test, take a source device, like a BD player and connect it direct to the projector using a short HDMI cable and see if it works like that.
