Your TV Fool report shows K03HY with a noise margin of 47 dB. Even with the extra noise on low VHF I would think you could receive it. Your current antenna is for low VHF. Is there any way you can be...

That's an Alliance U-100 rotor with a thrust bearing. That's far better than any TV rotor you can buy today. I give it a 99% chance that all that is wrong with it is the starting capacitor in the...

Yes, it can go in the attic or wherever the current splitter is.

In reality you don't need either just for the SF stations if that's all you're interested in. The distribution amp is highly...

Actually K03HY is on right now from Mt. Tam. It'll be moving to downtown SF in a couple of months. It should be scanned into your TV right now. Try entering 3.1. There are eight sub channels.

PeninsulaMark,

Maxreactance is probably right. Unless your existing antenna is physically broken somehow you probably don't need a new one. It could be bad cable or if it has a bad balun (the $20...

Do not use a preamp. Your signals are far too strong and you'll probably just end up overloading the preamp or the TV.

You don't an antenna with more gain than the HD7694P for the SF stations.

I've noticed that it has problems. K03HY shows as on Mt. Tam not SF, but KFTY shows up at the new location west of Sacramento instead of on Mt. St. Helena.

The UHF portion of both antennas is the same. Despite the gain claims I'm not so sure about VHF. The 8200 has 34 VHF elements and the 7698 has 29 VHF elements. In order to be the same on high VHF the...

A few comments......

All the long elements on the 8200U are wasted because you have no low VHF stations. You'd get more out of a Winegard HD7698P.

You don't want to put a distribution amplifier...

How long those rotors last has a lot to do with how corrosive the environment is. San Jose (especially south) is less bad than Menlo Park which is better than SF. Any location on the coast is awful....

Let me get this straight...... You are splitting the signal 8 ways and then two of those outputs each have another 2 way splitter with long cable runs? Then there's a run of cable between the preamp...

Yes, it acts exactly the same except you should add in cable loss ahead of the distribution amp to calculate the system noise figure.

If you had 100' of RG-6 (5dB loss on CH 51), a 4-way splitter...

As usual, I was confused on the forms. I was expecting a form 347, not a form 302-CA. I didn't realize that KAXT was a Class A station.

If you were using a preamp you'd want to install it as close to the antenna as possible to minimize coax loss before the preamp.

All the SF stations are very strong. A large antenna is not required to receive them. The HD7694P on the roof is plenty of antenna for those stations. Use a CM3414 distribution amp to run the 4 TVs....

Okay. I would suggest using a distribution amp in place of your splitter if you don't already have a preamp or distribution amp. That will take care of any tuner noise figure issues.

If you...
