Nice comparison. Their conclusion mirrors my exact thinking for picking the 9000 over the 8550. I knew they'd be close, but some of the extra features in the 9000 DO contribute to PQ, like the...

YES. Multiple upscaling can occur if the upscaler has not upscaled the image to 4K. If the STB is upscaling to 1080p, the TV still needs to upscale it to 4K.

If you have an AVR that can...

I have had 2 65" HU9000s. First one had terrible light bleed. Replacement has almost perfect uniformity. From the photos of 8550s I have...

External upscaling would absolutely impact the image quality. From my experience with my 4K set, even though the upscaler is always on, it will not upscale a 4K image twice. That is, if it signal...

Thanks for confirming our suspicions. Appreciate your help.

No full Chroma at 60Hz, most likely due to hdcp.

I don't own a 900 series card nor a P series. I do own a Hu9000 and a 750ti, so my reports are based off that experience. The rest is what I have read about hdmi 2.0 and hdcp 2.2, so they are only...

retested this again to confirm. it's true.

344 drivers can't display 4K 60 Hz on the 750ti due to lack of hdmi 2.0. Downgraded to 340 drivers and 60Hz works again, at reduced chroma.

That...

I think you're in good shape honestly

afaik the 344.11+ drivers don't allow the 4:2:0 @ 60 Hz anymore. I can't get it to work on my 750ti anyway. It does work on the previous driver however.

Not for video at this time. All video content is 4/2/0. 4K blu ray may change this.

Biggest benefit to 4:4:4 is PC monitor use. If you only watch video only it won't impact you much.

There is no need for hdmi 1.4 either, as hdmi 2.0 is backwards compatible with it. It's just a way for Vizio to cut costs, at the expense of ruining the TV as a 4K monitor.

if the same port that has hdmi 2.0 also has hdcp 2.2, then that means there is no way you'd ever get 4:4:4 chroma @ 60 Hz 4K on the p series. This would explain why no 970/980 users have been able...
