May I ask what kind of disc (DVD or Blu-Ray) and what sound output (5.1 Dolby Surround or 5.1 HD-MA)? I have the DVD, maybe I should try out for such occurrence.

Does it stream Netflix and Vudu? If no then it is a dud. Pioneers (especially Elite) are nice but they are far from an Oppo.

That sucks. Why did you want to hook the others to the Oppo, was it a Darbee version? I too find myself playing more of my backups than inserting actual discs and has developed this lingering thought...

I haven't realize any of the so-called 'dropped frames' but do experienced some delay when fast-fowarding or rewinding - the audio would start first before the spinning circle stops and resumes...

Not that I can tell. I alternate on both Roku 3 and Oppo but find myself using the latter more because of Darbee enhancement.
