Seems like they are using it to provide more panel area for the lower midrange region. Hmph.

LR 2nd order? The usual is a cascade of 2nd orders so net 4th order but Magnepan has historically used...

I brought this up many pages ago (the trigger double-tap at power on issue). I really hate it. Emo basically said they would think about it (that was about a year ago now). I switched to using the...

Does the mixer have a line level input? It sounds like you are driving mic-level inputs. I do not think impedance matters for this; I think you are overdriving the mixer's inputs. There may also be a...

The M2 is a nice amp and I would just use it for starters. The THD spec is interesting; most companies would have chosen more power. I would not worry about THD; your speakers (yes, even Maggies)...

It helps if the receiver has preamp outputs.

An amplifier will allow you to play louder; does the system not play loud enough for you now? There is no real reason to buy an amplifier because the...

You'll get higher efficiency and perhaps a bit more output in the larger enclosure.

The commercial product's enclosure size is to meet shipping requirements (per Brian) and is a compromise in...

SmartStrip -- search Amazon.

For a sub across the room, without a trigger input, I am using an X10 transmitter that takes a 12 V input from the trigger output of my processor and then an appliance...

112 uF = 4 ohms at 355 Hz. Possible they decided to try to boost the bass a bit by dropping it that low, but I agree it does not seem likely, and still suspect a mistake somewhere. Be very...

Agreed, but not sure how the OP defines "null". It means signal cancellation to me, and that ain't shallow, but terms like "null" and "modes" get thrown around a lot without reference to their...

Let's try some numbers. Say the sub has a 100 W amp (probably low) and 1 Vrms input for full-power output. 100 W into 8 ohms (probably actually lower) is 28.28 Vrms, a voltage gain of 29 dB. By...

A null due to a room mode or boundary reflection is not going to be amenable to correction using EQ, but those...

Were these bought used? I have replaced many socks and you can get pretty good at maintaining the factory look. Just seems strange Magnepan would make such a large change. I would call them and ask...

Nice when somebody finds their true love. :)

I have not heard the latest versions of the 1.x and 3.x models, but for me the bigger panels, deeper bass, and ribbon tweeter always won out. I started...

The 100 uF is clearly wired in parallel with the 12 uF capacitor. The leads are stressed, not a great idea. I wonder if this was a manufacturing defect... They came from the factory this way? 100 V...

LFE intrinsically provides +10 dB maximum signal over the other channels. Max output of any other channel is 105 dB (calibrated system) but LFE can reach 115 dB. This is by design and per spec. LFE...

Wow, that is fried! at least half of it; I bet the clamp shorted it (conecting wires shorted along the coil).

Not having seen an MMG to work out the crossover schematic I can only guess but...

Pretty unusual. My guess is a cold solder joint snuck through and the resulting loose connection took out the coil. If you have the ability would be good to run pink noise or do a sweep and make sure...

You might also want to consider pro amps. The Crown XLS and XTi series are popular and offer a lot of power for the money. They don't come in seven-channel versions, however. And I have no idea what...

The light switch generates a burst of energy (noise) when you turn it on and off. The amp could be sensing that through the signal cable. Try removing the signal cable at the amp and see if it helps....

Only the most expensive (~$50) model in your link matches the SNR of the Cambridge. Low noise floor is important in a phono preamp since any noise is going to be amplified by all subsequent stages. I...

Are the two-channel numbers also at 0.01 % THD? That is very low, especially for a power amp... That said, the data clearly supports your position on Yamaha.

They are two-channel professional amps. I have not found their wattage ratings to be inflated but YMMV. A doubling in power is not much increase in perceived loudness so not sure I'd be too concerned...
