Blockbuster used to be great,...

The Black Diamond has a much more dramatic drop-off in brightness as you move off-angle and it color shifts as well. On the other hand, the BD will do a better job of reflecting ambient light coming...

Great catch with The Keep. How about "Open Range"? Has "Return of the Pink Panther" been released yet? ( I still can't believe that they left the best film out of the box set.)

Plus you'd be doing an extra D/A in the Oppo first. I think using the 621 is the way to go. I'm using one with a G68, and its works well.

I went through the same exercise a few months ago. I looked at the BD 1.4 and .8, DNP 08-85 and 23-23 and Stewart Firehawk. (I didn't get to see the DNP 23-23 in my own room though.) I guess I'm not...

You probably wouldn't find info on the C3X if you searched by "C3XT2". C3X is the model number; T2 is one of the lens options (for longer throw length). If you're OK with 720p and no 3D, I think...

By the way, the 08-85 is doing a great job of handling the ambient light from house lighting; it's the sunlight that spills through my defenses that does the damage. I can turn the can lights above...

You pretty well summed up what I found in comparing the Supernova and Black Diamond materials (though I never noticed sparkles in what we watched). I went with the 08-85 and its a nice improvement...

I just put up a DNP 08-85, replacing the Dalite High Contrast Cinema Vision in my family room. (It's a 100" diagonal working with a SIM2 C3X-E.) I've still got samples of the Firehawk and Black...

I think you get a little more contrast with the 08-85, and its off angle performance is a little better than the 23-23. But the 23-23's viewing cone is still pretty wide, and once you are beyond...

I think that depends on which DNP material you choose as the 08-85 is more expensive than the 23-23. But I'm not entirely sure that the Black Diamond isn't more expensive anyway. AVS is a good place...
