It is what I use now. Not a lot different than when I using a tightly spaced pattern but sure is faster. Imaging does seem better but not sure if that is placebo.

As for down mix, it depends where it is done. Most players, like Blu-ray will drop the LFE totally if down mixed there. Most receivers mix it...
