Again ... your Onkyo is only capable of one physical location of a pair of L/R height speakers. If you want 2 pair capability, you would need to upgrade to the Onkyo NR1030.

Er .. no. If you turn off the main zone, you also disconnect the signal to the pre-outs as well. So you likely want to just lower the main zone volume, but raise the gain on the headphone amp.

Using ALL ZONE STEREO (which is now the 3rd time I've had to say this) all 2013 and 2014 Zone 2 models can pass the same HDMI audio playing in the main zone to Zone 2 as well.

Yes, all these models can use ALL ZONE STEREO, and the X3000 and X4000 can pass an independent HDMI source to Zone 2 as well. This is referring to using the Zone 2 speaker posts or Zone 2 pre-outs.
