The close out midrange was pretty nice. I'm not sure what there is to gain by adding another 1db of sensitivity to the speakers. Wattage is pretty cheap these days.

That really won't work very well. Plus, if you wanted that JBL stuff, you can find its lightly used for a fraction of that cost. I might even have some of those compression...

There's no need to use the 360 on the V-8 or V-10 because the crossover point is high enough to where the larger compression driver brings nothing to the design. The DNA-150 is perfect for those...

Mfusick, there would be no reason at all to use anything near a 12" coaxial for a speaker like this. Even an 8" coaxial would get louder than you would ever need, even if your mains were huge.

If the Atmos speakers don't need to get down to 80hz, a sealed Volt-8 might work in a smaller box, or maybe even a Volt-6.

There will surely be other 3 way speakers done. They just won't be 100% like the 1099 and likely more expensive because of the closeout midrange used.

The 6" and 8" discussed earlier in the thread are really good, but they're fairly expensive to be used for surrounds. There are cheaper things...

There was a center baffle like that, but most people were going with the V-10, so after the first round of those baffles were ordered, extras weren't done. But they could be if needed.

I will keep some of the mids aside for a few years just in case there are ever any issues, but I doubt there's any need to worry about that. They're very well built and barely need to work compared...
