I'd say it is for the more normal users who are not interested in three-way or four-way GPU setups. The 5820K still has 28 lanes, which is quite a bit more than mainstream Haswell's 16. That's enough...

I thought Quake 4 was a very good old school style shooter with excellent weapons. It was a quality production all-around, and one of few games to really make great use of EAX 5's high quality...
