Agreed, HDMI ARC controls can be headaches. I think the issue is that your AVR is "the odd man out" being a Denon. HDMI "ARC" type functions often only work when ALL the components are the same...

The AVR power cord is "beefy"; a thick cord with three prong plug. As stated, the switched outlet is rated for 120V, 1A, and the sub is rated at 120V with a 0.8A fuse...
