If I know I'll be back soon I try to leave a dark scene on the tv, as little white as I can. Beyond that I switch to tv content and take advantage of the players resume feature.

Make sure your screen overscan is off. You want to look for HD size 1 or 2 in the screen settings. 1 is full screen and 2 is overscan which makes the image about 5% larger than full screen.
