Well I switched out my DD-12's amp and put it in my DD-15 and the DD-15 now seems to work fine. No pops or rumbles and a good frequency scan trace. So it looks like I'll be sending back the DD-15 amp...

My A51 is dead quiet, no hum or anything at 6" (or closer). So I think it is fair to say it is not "normal". I use the balanced inputs, so that may be a factor.
