Do you have your DTV box set for pass-through or Native resolution? You might be seeing the TV trying to re-sync when switching between, for example, ESPN 720p and TNT@1080i.

Mostly likely that was a Color Space mismatch, like your source sending RGB and your display thinking it was YCbCr. More likely if your source is set for Auto color space.
