Before I retired ~2009, we ran GigE over copper (1000 Mb) in datacenters and practically most field offices. Just like many do in their homes today. ;)

I'd suggest that you contact Samsung and keep records/incidence numbers in regard to your complaint(s) while you try to upgrade.
Apparently your TV's tuner is not decoding Dolby Digital audio....

Other wires/cables constricting the pathway? If so, perhaps you could remove unused cables/wires (even if temporary) to snake an HDMI...

But... I'll take a stab. Is the antenna connected "directly" connected to the TV or are you connecting the antenna through the DVR?
If the DVR is in the middle... bypass and test...

Otherwise... if all you have is an antenna connected to the TV and no other devices, it should work out of the box.
