Likely there will be standard layout configurations in the SSP and you select the closest match and / or a modiffied calibration process that could give it even more custom info for a given room.

I agree. There are various unique settings in the Auro, DTS and Dolby surround menus. I am certain, the DTS-X surround page will offer such things. Very cool stuff going on now!

I can tell you that upmixing this to my 7.6.6 system made this 5.1 very impressive. The sequence through the worm hole put you right in the space ship!

But I agree that more discrete channels...

You called it. Your speaker was overloading and distorting. That was a very powerful sequence. I think we all jumped in my theater.. From what I've read, the heights will get full on power at times....
