Yes I think I have optimized the sub as much as I can. I have done the crawl in many areas, used REW in many areas and the middle of the front wall is best. I do need to try to change the polarity.

It is in the middle in between the room lenght but it is against the back wall. If move it too much to the right it ends up in the kitchen and too far to the left I won't be able to open the back...

That is right I will leave the sub where REW said is best. The dificulty with moving the couch is that it sits by the back wall and would look weird in the family room since it is open to the kitchen.
