Trying to hide the problems isn't, or shouldn't be the solution. Running it darker to cover up those problems is a compromise.
It was the same way with Sharp, but much, much worse.

That looks like a reflection from the edge of the frame bouncing back on screen. It's very uniform all the way around.
I would be more bothered with the visible backlight pattern (horizontal bars)....
