NEW Epson 5025UB

I don't; but I played with a middle-of-the-range Epson in a (properly light-controlled) showroom overseas at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately the European naming left me with no clue what...

Nice feedback, Brajesh - thanks!

The whole fan-noise issue is often-times overblown: I guess people are comparing to the Sony HW40ES - which, whilst it is exceptionally quiet (I've heard it), is...

Yeah, I'm saying that the calculator is likely meant to be indicating 2.5 inches rather than 2-feet-5-inches.

The Sony is currently on sale (for the next few weeks) for $1998 from authorized dealers (and even less elsewhere if you're willing to give up the manufacturer warranty) - for most, the extra 30% is...

Looks like you could be seeing the weave of the screen? If you put up a piece of plain white paper do you still see the lines?

Are you running in one of the Eco modes (including SmartEco, which is as bright as Normal but rated at much longer life)?
If so, then the lowest report of lamp failure I've seen here is around 4500...

HDMI + Power and you're good to go.

You wouldn't need a second HDMI run since your first will be connected to your AVR which would negate the need for using more than one input on your projector....

BenQ 1075 or 1085? LT or ST...can't decide!

The longer throw is preferable (if placement isn't an issue) because a longer throw lens has a less steep throw angle - meaning imperfections in the screen are usually less visible. Shorter throw...

Why I Don't Like my HT1075

Sounds odd...
I did a side-by-side of the original W1070 to the HD26/HD141X earlier this year. The Optoma was dimmer after calibration; so blacks (along with whites) were lower; though both were a...

HD141X? Mostly similar to your old projector.

The Sony is LCoS rather than straight LCD (although even those are non-organic these days); so there should be no fade over time. Its class-leading...

This is purely because of the color wheel selection: no other reason. (It's what we discussed earlier in another thread on this exact topic.)
It also demonstrates the 'never trust a spec sheet'...

BenQ W1070 : DLP Full HD, 3D Ready with lens-shift for 1000$

Did you buy new? (What's the manufactured date on your unit?)
I ask because of the several W1070's I've seen over the last two years, it was only two of the oldest that had significant fan rattle...

Upgraded from optoma HD33 to HD25-LV

The dramatic increase in brightness would definitely contribute to eye strain. Assuming Eco/Low-Lamp mode doesn't help, an ND filter attached to the front of the lens may assist in taming brightness....

Best projector for $1600 or less

If the Epson 3500 (and slightly brighter BenQ HC1200) were just bright enough, the significant loss of lumens going to the Panny is going to be an issue.

Your next projector purchase should be...

Wanting a quiet fan and projecting on a colored wall: W1070 vs HD26 vs H5380BD

You should be fine.

I run with HA Mode off (in a combination of SmartEco and Eco) at 1650m; no problems over the last few years.

As Dreamer says, it's manageable in SmartEco (I use this during...

QUIET projector under 2k?

First rule for interpreting manufacturer spec sheets: don't believe them. 29dB is actually below average in this price class; yet (as those reviews indicate), the projector is actually a lot louder. ...

Benq W1070 exploded after only 6 months of use

If it doesn't, still see if you can arrange your receipt and contact BenQ. The last two similar early bulb failures reported here (a while back) were both covered under warranty without much fuss:...
